Gema clean up, who goes with him?

Petition against the excessive GEMA fees for live performances - the now even higher concert prices also calls. In the Kitchen (some hanging mass emails of the call already to his neck out to) and there sometime in the future, me and my band cover may also, perhaps, make I briefly pointed out.

Even if such petitions promise little success (see Zensursula - where there were 130 000 participants, but that result was only mentioned briefly in the actual debate). Join shows that no one can do anything with it.

What this brings to the individual?

If the GEMA fees will be increased effectively, there will be fewer small concerts and the prices of tickets of your favorite band or rapid to skyrocket, as they have done so anyway in the last five years.

The interesting thing is, yes, everyone buys the CD - or DVD Media, CD - DVD - Blue Ray Player, GEMA fees already paid. This can be beautiful on wirhabenbezahlt.de read.

The petition will help to encourage long-overdue transparency in the fee calculations of the GEMA.

golem.de says:

In other words, the Gema will compensate for the revenue break away from the recorded music business through additional revenue from the booming live in total business.

Extract from the Statute of GEMA in the version of 26-27. June 2007

§ 1
The economic organization GEMA (Economic Society of state power award!)
Society for Musical Performing and Mechanical Reproduction Rights, based in Berlin.
Its legal capacity is based in accordance with § 22 BGB at state Verleihung1).
1) Creation of legal capacity by the Prussian State Ministry on 28 September 1933 to the STAGMA whose name check by Council Decision No. 55 (c) of 24 August 1947 has been changed to GEMA (Appendix 1 to the GEMA-News No. 2 / 1949 p. 35).

§ 2
1st Purpose of the association is the protection of the author and the exercise of its rights under these statutes.
His body is disinterested, not on making a profit.

Second The association is responsible for fiduciary management of it by its members and third parties through unilateral or bilateral contracts to exploit the rights conferred 2).
He can do everything to preserve the rights conferred on him
required. For this purpose, for example, the participation of the PRS is one of generating companies, which use copyrighted central to several countries.
The association is entitled to those who want to use the delegated rights to issue the necessary permit this. The association is in accordance with § 11 UrhWG required to do so 3).

3rd The association is also entitled to take over collection mandates of collecting societies, which have been issued under § § 1, 2, 18 UrhWG permission ... ..
